How We Raise Our Chicks

At BudgieBliss, we raise each chick with care, patience, and close attention to their health and happiness. We follow a process that ensures your future budgie has the best possible start in life — both physically and emotionally.

Hatching & Nesting

• Chicks hatch in clean, safe nest boxes with natural bedding

• We monitor nests daily, checking that parents are feeding and caring properly

• We never disturb too much during the early days to keep stress low

Growth & Development

• We keep a log of each chick’s growth, weight, and development

• Parents raise their chicks naturally — we only step in if absolutely needed

• Chicks stay with parents until they are fully weaned and independent

Gentle Socialization

• We handle chicks briefly and gently as they grow, getting them used to human contact

• They’re introduced to toys, perches, and open space as soon as they’re ready

• We work to raise curious, confident, and calm birds

Weaning & Fledging

• We let chicks wean at their own pace — no rushing or forced hand-feeding

• They stay until they can fly, eat on their own, and explore comfortably

• Once weaned, they join our young bird aviary for final social growth

Ready for New Homes

We only let budgies go to their new homes when they are:

• Eating completely on their own

• Confident with flying and landing

• Calm around people and change

• At least 6 weeks old (often longer, depending on development)
